How to Use Jelly Wax

Jelly wax is a transparent, rubbery, and versatile type of candle wax that allows you to create beautiful candles with a glass-like appearance. It holds fragrance well, burns longer than many other waxes, and is popular for making decorative candles with embedded objects such as shells, beads, or dried flowers.

Steps to Use Jelly Wax

  1. Prepare Materials
Gather jelly wax, a heat-safe glass container, wick, fragrance oil (optional), and decorative elements.
  2. Melt the Jelly Wax
Cut the jelly wax into smaller chunks and melt it slowly in a double boiler at 100–110°C (212–230°F). Avoid overheating as it can cause bubbles or cloudiness.
  3. Prepare the Container
Secure the wick at the bottom of your glass jar. You can use wick stickers or a dab of hot glue. Make sure the wick stands upright.
  4. Add Fragrance (Optional)
Once melted, you can add fragrance oil. Stir gently so bubbles don’t form. Recommended load is about 3–6% of the wax weight.
  5. Pour the Wax
Carefully pour the melted jelly wax into the container. If you want to embed decorations (like shells, glass beads, or dried flowers), place them inside while the wax is still warm but slightly thickened.
  6. Cool and Set
Allow the candle to cool at room temperature. Avoid moving it too much while cooling to prevent bubbles or uneven texture.
  7. Trim the Wick & Enjoy
Once fully set, trim the wick to about ¼ inch (6–7 mm) before lighting your jelly candle.

Jelly wax candles are not only functional but also decorative, making them a great choice for home décor or gifts.
