Steps to Make Sand Wax
- Prepare Your Wax Base
The most common way to make sand wax is to use palm wax, as its crystallizing structure naturally forms into small granules. - Melt the Wax
Heat palm wax in a double boiler until it reaches 200–210°F (93–99°C). Stir gently to ensure even melting. - Cool Down Gradually
Remove the melted wax from heat and allow it to cool slowly. As palm wax cools, it crystallizes into sand-like particles. - Break It Into Grains
Once cooled, scrape and crumble the crystallized wax. You can use your hands or a spoon to break it down into a sand-like texture. - Add Color or Fragrance (Optional)
- If you want colored sand wax, add candle-safe dye during melting.
- For scented sand wax, add fragrance oil when the wax cools to about 185°F (85°C).
- Use for Candle Making
Pour the sand wax into glass jars or layer different colors to create decorative effects. Insert a wick into the center, and your unique candle is ready!
