Why Combine Coconut Wax and Soy Wax?
Both coconut and soy waxes are plant-based, renewable, and eco-friendly. However, they have slightly different characteristics that make blending them worthwhile.
- Coconut wax is soft, creamy, and has an excellent scent throw. It burns cleanly and produces a smooth, glossy surface.
- Soy wax is firmer and helps candles hold their shape better. It also burns slowly, extending candle life.
By mixing them, you achieve a balanced blend that offers excellent scent diffusion, smooth texture, and stable performance in various climates.
Ideal Mixing Ratio
A common starting ratio is 70% soy wax and 30% coconut wax.
This ratio provides:

If you want a softer candle with stronger scent throw, try 60% coconut wax and 40% soy wax. Always test small batches to find the blend that best suits your candles.
How to Mix Them
- Weigh both waxes according to your chosen ratio.
- Melt them together in a double boiler at around 80–85°C (175–185°F).
- Stir thoroughly until completely combined.
- Add fragrance oil at the recommended temperature for soy wax (around 65°C / 150°F).
- Pour into containers slowly and let them cool naturally.
